Bent Lamination Chairs – Introduction and Frame Construction

The design and construction of these chairs falls into three general categories:

  • what bent lamination is and how you do it
  • construction and assembly of the chair frame
  • construction and assembly of the curved seat and back pieces.

I’m putting together a video series covering these topics and the challenges I faced along the way.  However, I realize most folks don’t want to nerd out and watch me make chairs.

So, if you’re interested in how these chairs were made but don’t have a lot of time, this blog post is for you.  Below are links to three separate posts which briefly explore what bent lamination is and how the parts of the chair frame were made and constructed.

However, if you do want to nerd out and watch me make chairs, head over to my YouTube channel.  But, please be aware that I’m a woodworker not a film maker.  These are the first videos of anything I’ve ever made and the result was about what you might expect at first.  Honestly, the first three episodes are a little rough in parts.  After shooting that material, however, I upgraded my gear and started to get a better sense of what I was doing.  So, hang in there through the first couple episodes, you’ll be glad you did.
